Smith -- Jean K. Smith 78, a resident of Yuma, Arizona for over ten years, passed away on December 28, 2002. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Yuma. Her loving husband, Robert E. Smith, survives her. Also surviving her are sons, Kerry A. Frame of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kris E. Frame and wife, Virginia of Seattle, Washington; daughter, Kandy J. Frame and husband, Ted O'Connor of Los Alamos, NM; step-daughters, Terry S. FitzPatrick and husband, John of Los Alamos, NM and Stephani S. Bowman and husband, Michael of Laramie, Wyoming; aunt, Genevieve Rifley of Charlottesville, Virginia; four granddaughters, Sara A. Frame, Wendy M. Frame, Emily Bowman, Carrie B. Wolfe and husband, James; two grandsons, Robert and Benjamin FitzPatrick. Her parents; brother, Herman E. Kelch; and first husband, Roy A. Frame, preceded her in death. Jean Kelch Smith, the daughter of Roy and Ruth R. Kelch, was born on the family farm near West Liberty, Iowa on October 2, 1924. She made her home in Los Alamos, NM in 1946 and lived there for 43 years. Jeannie, a member of the United Church in Los Alamos, was an avid Bridge player, gardener, homemaker, seamstress, and loving mother. She supported scouting activities for her children, was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Cookie Chairman, an active member of the Mesa Club, PTA and civic activities. Jeannie worked for Los Alamos (Scientific) National Laboratory for over 20 years, retiring in 1979. After retirement she and Bob enjoyed traveling in their RV and spent a lot of time exploring the United States. They took a wonderful trip to Great Britain, a cruise in Alaska, had a time-share they exchanged to interesting places and shared with family and friends. Jeannie will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those she touched. Memorial Services will be held at the Yuma First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Services in Los Alamos, New Mexico are pending. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
