Fitz -- Ralph Raymond Fitz, 87, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital of complications due to cancer. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he was a 56 year resident of New Mexico. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Edna P. Fitz; son-in-law, Vernon J. Glover of Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Charlotte Glover and husband David Kiffer; great-grandson, Liam Kiffer, all of Ketchikan, Alaska; sister, Mildred Walz of Arlington, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ellen Glover. During his long federal career, he worked for the Resettlement Administration, The Dept. of Agriculture and The Atomic Energy Commission. Ralph was a member of the New Mexico Numismatic Society. He was an avid coin collector and a huge sports fan, who loved Lobo basketball. Throughout his life he hunted, fished and explored every back road in New Mexico, especially those that led to the Owl Bar and the Bosque Del Apache where he supported the work of preserving the whooping cranes.
