Danek -- Robert (Bob) Danek, 68, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, finished his course on April 9, 2003, after a long and hard fought nine-month struggle with leukemia. Bob was born January 15, 1935 the son of Richard R. and Lucile F. Danek in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bob was a 1956 graduate of West Point Military Academy. He then lived in El Paso for 3 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1959. Bob was an entrepreneur for over 35 years, owning several different companies. He is remembered for his faith, love and pursuit of the Lord and the Lord's purpose for man unveiled in the Bible, and for his loving care for his family. He enjoyed his summer vegetable garden and annual family vacations in the mountains. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia Danek; five children, Lynda Links and husband Dan of Albuquerque, Robert Danek and wife Becky of Denver, CO, David Danek of Arlington, WA, Jim Danek and wife Carol of Albuquerque, and Laurie Karr and husband Bryan of Denver, CO; two brothers, Tom Danek and wife Frankie of Pittsboro, NC and Dick Danek and wife Karen of Grants, NM, and one sister, Linda Lawhorn and husband Paul of San Antonio, TX; fourteen grandchildren, Aaron, Kaysha, Sharon, and Crystal Links of Albuquerque, Nathan, Melissa, Christina and Henna Danek of Denver, CO, Lynn, Ryan, and Steven Danek of Seattle, WA, David, Daniel and Jonathan Karr of Denver, CO; plus numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Bob's name to The Church in Albuquerque, 1615 Las Lomas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. The family wishes to express a special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph Gorvetzian, Dr. Mitch Binder, and the wonderful nurses, techs and other employees at Lovelace for the excellent care of Bob these last nine months.
