Creamer -- Eva Marie Creamer, 85, a native New Mexican and longtime Albuquerque resident, passed away in Fountain Hills, AZ, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos"Mac" Creamer. Eva is survived by her two sons, Carlos M."Butch" Creamer, Jr., and wife, M.E."Sam" of Chandler, AZ, and Charles Closson, Jr., and wife, Jennie of Raleigh, NC; her five grandchildren, Cheryl, Keri, Tim, Charley, and Lisa; her three great - grandchildren, Garrett, Carter, and Kathryn; and her three sisters, Lorene McLeod, LaVerne Wells, and Juanita McKenzie. Eva was born on April 4, 1918 in Clayton, NM, to Maud and Aubrey Lehr. Eva grew up in Clayton and after graduating from high school she moved to Santa Fe. She was the secretary for the Chief of the New Mexico State Police and typed the first driver's license issued in NM, which went to then Governor Tingley. She married Charles Closson of Santa Fe and they had a son, Charles, Jr. Charles lost his life in an auto accident. In 1945, Eva married Carlos"Mac" Creamer of Rowe, NM. In 1946, they moved to Springfield, MA, where she gave birth to her second son, Carlos M. Creamer, Jr. In 1947, Mac joined Standard Oil Company of New Jersey (now Exxon-Mobile) and he, Eva, and their two sons, moved to Caracas, Venezuela where the boys grew up. When Mac was posted to the New York office, Eva lived in both New Jersey and Connecticut. Eva and Mac spent three years in Sydney, Australia before retiring and returning to Albuquerque. When Eva lived abroad she, Mac and their sons would often spend the summers in New Mexico staying with family in both Rowe and Albuquerque. Eva enjoyed traveling and visited many parts of the world. Eva enjoyed her retirement in New Mexico. She was fascinated with art and sketched, painted, and sculptured. She collected various pieces of art and antiques during her time abroad but always had a special appreciation for New Mexican artists. While often strong-willed she was a very caring and compassionate woman. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will be held Monday, April 14, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Rev. Phil Derry officiating.
