Baca -- Joseph"Bico" Baca, a resident of Manhattan Beach, CA died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was 70 years old. Joe was born September 18, 1932 in Albuquerque and raised in Santa Fe, NM. He served in the 726 AAA Battalion, Headquarters Battery, during the Korean Conflict. In 1967, while employed as a Production Engineer at TRW, he met his wife, Sue. They were married for 28 years. After retiring from TRW ten and half years ago, he and his wife spent time traveling and enjoying many hobbies. Joe became a Master Wood-carver and carved many cowboys and St. Francis statutes. He was also famous for his unique chile. Family and friends came from all around when he made it. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 28 years, Sue; their children, Pam and Mark Shaw and their children, Jason, Amy and Kyle; Rick and Linda Baca and their children, Robby, Joe and Nathan; Lori and Spike Howard and their children, Michael, Chad and Jenni; Michael and Gina Mulligan and their children, Christina, Michael and Christopher; Bill and Debbie Mulligan and their children, Bill and Jamie; brothers, Alfredo Baca of Santa Fe, Robert and wife, Annette Baca of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews; and his precious kitty, Chasen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Lavina Baca; and his brothers, Buddy Baca and Jack Baca. Funeral Mass was said Thursday, March 27, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church, 624 15th St. in Manhattan Beach. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM, on Friday, May 2, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. Memorial Reception to follow.
