Kennedy -- Kendall Ray Kennedy was born on July 26,1946 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Joe and Charlette Kennedy. He and his sister, Karel, were raised and schooled there and in Farmington, NM and Hobbs, NM. Upon graduation from Hobbs High School in 1964, Ken attended the University of New Mexico where he achieved a degree in civil engineering. He belonged to the honor fraternities Chi Epsilon and Sigma Tau. At UNM Ken met Cynthia Hammer. They were married on August 31, 1968. Ken graduated from UNM in 1969, and he and Cindy moved to Downey, California where he took a position with the California Department of Transportation as a Junior Civil Engineer. Ken and Cindy were blessed with the births of their sons, Andrew in 1970 and Jason in 1975. Subsequent moves brought them to Phoenix, Arizona. Ken worked for Boyle Engineering from 1976 to 1996 and then for Carollo Engineering until his death. Ken was a licenced professional engineer in five states: Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Ken brought excellence to his work product and customer satisfaction was very important to him. His devotion to family was his highest priority. Survivors include his wife, Cindy; sons, Andrew and wife, Nicolle, and Jason; grandson, Justin; and sister, Karel Jahns of Washington state. Ken passed away on May 22, 2003. Arrangements were handled by Shadow Mountain Shadow Funeral Home in Phoenix. A Memorial Service was held on May 27, 2003. Donations in memory of Ken may be made to your favorite charity.
