Baca -- Manuel G. Baca, age 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother was welcomed into the arms of the Lord our Savior, Thursday, June 12, 2003, while surrounded by his loving family. Manuel was a long time resident of Alameda. He was well known in the north valley by the nickname of"Mangas"; for his sense of humor; and his work in plastering homes. Manuel was a parishioner and usher at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Atanacio and Maria Baca; a grandson, Albert Baca; a granddaughter, Randi Nicole Baca; brother, Jake Baca; and sisters, Katherine Garcia, Melitona Baca, Rita Branch, Mauricia Salazar; and daughter in law, Margaret Baca. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Portana Baca of the family home; his children, Alex Baca, Priscilla Trujillo and husband Jose, Maida Cordero and husband Morris, Olivia Cotinola and husband Roy, Fidel Baca, and Randy Baca and wife Addie; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Louie Baca and wife Rosalie; three sisters, Sally Aragon, Millie Wofford and husband Tracy, and Natalie Chavez; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitations will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final viewing will be Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Julian Baca, Alex Baca, Ruben Trujillo, Andrew Trujillo, Vincent Trujillo, Morris Cordero, Jr., Christopher Cotinola and Nicholas Baca. Honorary bearers will be his granddaughters, Debra Baca, Agnes Gonzales, Doris Dimas, Linda Romero, Stephanie Cotinola, and Angela Cotinola.
