Brosseau -- Joseph Edward Brosseau, Jr., Age 88, died at his home in Santa Fe on June 24, 2003. He and his partner, Newt Eddy, developed Rodeo Business Park. Brosseau was born in Chicago in 1915. He visited New Mexico first when he was 14. He attended the University of Georgia, studying economics. In WWII he was a member of the Army Air Corps. On a trip to New Mexico, he was introduced to Roberta Martin whose family owned the general store and a ranch in El Rito. The couple was married in 1943 when Brosseau was a flight instructor at an Army airbase in Texas. After the war, the Brosseaus bought property on the Rio Chama where they raised cattle and ran a guest ranch. They moved to Santa Fe in the 1950's when Ed became head of the New Mexico Dept. of Motor Vehicles under Governor Ed Mechecm. After several years in government, he went into private business and, with his wife, formed the Pronto Printing Co. During the uranium boom, he was president of Pinon Uranium Co. Later, he bought a gold mine near Durango, CO. Brosseau invented the JEB Rod, which he had manufactured in Chicago. In 1966, semi-retired, he became chairman of St. Vincent Hospital's development board. In his 70's, he took up cutting horse competition. He traded cattle from a ranch near Clayton. Brosseau was also a talented golfer. He is preceded in death by his sister, Caroline; and brother, John. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Martin Brosseau; brother-in-law, John Martin and his wife, Barbara; 18 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. Private Funeral Service for immediate family will be held, followed by a memorial gathering, which will be announced at a later date.
