Santiago -- Miguel Santiago, age 66, beloved and devoted father, grandfather, and son, was called home to be with the Lord our Savior Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2003; while surrounded by his loving family. Miguel was a man with many talents and great ability whose main focus were his family and his culture; he believed in passing down traditions as well as family values. He was well known and respected by numerous colleagues and students as a professional Mariachi musician and instructor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting camping, painting and especially cooking for his family and friends. Miguel was preceded in death by his father, Ramon Santiago. He is survived by his loving children, Lupe Santiago and husband Gerald Moore, Magdalena (Maggie) Santiago, Maria Jimenez and husband Thomas, Gloria Sisneros and husband Paul, Rosa Lujan and husband Alex, Jose Santiago, Ramon Santiago and wife Michelle; eight precious grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren; his mother, Mercedes Santiago; the mother of his children, Esperanza Roybal; numerous other beloved family members; and a host of friends. Miguel will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be held Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Leonard Gallegos, Hector Lozoya, Mark Tapia, Alfonso Minero, Jr., Alex Lujan, Sr., and Alex Lujan, Jr. For floral assistance, please call 898-3160.
