Messer -- Messer, Robert H. Robert H. Messer, M.D. After a courageous battle with a malignant brain tumor, Robert H. Messer went home to be with his Lord on August 13, 2003 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Messer and his wife, Emily Baker Messer. He is survived by his wife, Dianne, whom he married in 1990. They have been Florida residents since 1997. He was born in Ludington, Ml on October 21, 1931. He went to medical school and residency at the University of Michigan. He was a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He served in the United States Air Force, was honorably discharged in 1972 having achieved the rank of Captain. Bob should be remembered for his dedication to the medical education of hundreds of medical students and OB/Gyn Residents, his impact on the lives of his professional colleagues and his kind and compassionate care of his many patients. Upon his retirement in 1997, he was awarded the Texas Tech University Health Science Center Distinguished Faculty Service Award and was appointed Professor Emeritus in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. During his 35 year career he served as Chairman of the OB/Gyn Departments in the Schools of Medicine at the University of Nebraska, the University of New Mexico and Texas Tech University. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, John and wife, Carol; two sons, Robert H. and wife, Lisa and Michael Kimmons; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Kirk Christensen, Laura and Jon Anderson, Ellen and Glenn Wright; nine grandchildren, Emily and Lindsay Messer, Tyler, Kyle and Hannah Christensen, Ana, Caroline and Brian Neff and Alex Anderson; his mother-in- law and father-in-law, Muriel and Hobert Miracle; two brothers-in-law, David Folden and Barry Bickle and their families; a sister-in-law, Kathee Bickle, and many nieces and nephews and numerous dear friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the building fund of Saint Andrews Chapel, 514 Walden View Dr., Sanford, FL 32771 or Hospice of the Comforter on Montgomery Rd., Altamonte Springs, FL, Bob regularly attended St. Andrews Chapel where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m., remembering his earthly life and celebrating the new Iife he has begun with Jesus Christ in Heaven. Services will be officiated by Dr. R. C. Sproul and Rev. Tim Bonarrigo. Questions may be directed to 407-328-1139.
