Perea -- Mel Archie Perea, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away August 17, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Rosaline Perea; Two sons, Gordon Michael Stephen Perea and wifen Elsie of Farmington and Stanley Perea and wifen Toni of Albuquerque; six daughters, Andrea Perea Lancaster and husband, William III, Karen Corey Perea, Judith Perea Coggins and husband, Thomas all of Albuquerque, Teresa Perea Espinosa and husband, Steven of Rio Rancho, Christine Perea Saylor and husband, David of Farmington, Erika Perea Ferraro of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, Doug Lancaster; William Lancaster IV, Jessica Saylor, Timothy Coggins, David Saylor Jr., Steven Espinosa Jr., Nick Espinosa, Andrew Espinosa, Sheila Sisneros, Claudie Chavez; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Johnson of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mell Thaddeus Perea; one sister, Irene Lermisiaux. Mel served in WWII in the Soloman Islands. He was a member of D.A.V. Chapter 3. V.F.W. # 5890, American Legion Post # 13, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and St. Therese Little Flower Church. He was deeply in love and devoted to his wife. He also loved his pets Rosie, Pinta and Punky. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at Palm Chapel of Strong -Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2003 at St. Therese Little Flower Church 300 Mildred Ave NW. with Fr. Jim Suntum. A Committal Service will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Steve Espinosa, Thomas Coggins, Claudie Chavez, Douglas Lancaster, William Lancaster IV, and Dave Saylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bud Light, Joe Ross, Phillip Cordova, and grandchildren of Mel. Arrangements are under the care of: Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE 842-8800
