Reichert -- James William Reichert, our beloved father and grandfather, died on February 18, 2003, after a short illness. He was born in Texas on August 2, 1918, the son of Johannes Reichert and Vera Mangham Reichert. He was a Veteran of World War II, when he served as a B-17 gunner in the United States Army Air Corps. He also saw service in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, when he was recalled to active duty as a trainer. After concluding his military service and completing his studies at the University of Texas, he worked as a mathematician and computer programmer at Convair Corporation, the Defense Atomic Support Agency, and the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs. He is survived by his children, Joseph William Reichert; daughter-in-law, Mar°a Ofelia Reichert; daughter, Mary Alice Reichert; and son-in-law, Dennis Kirsch. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Seaman E-3 Joseph William Reichert, Juana Inez Reichert, Nicholas Kirsch, Alexandra Kirsch, and Anastasia Kirsch. A Mass of Resurrection will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Albuquerque. A family service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the cemetery adjacent to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, near Carthage, Panola County, Texas. The Hawthorne Funeral Home of Carthage, Texas will be in charge of the latter arrangements. We remember our father for his kindness, the energy and optimism which stayed with him to the end of his life, and for the many hours he devoted to his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers, our family requests donations to his favorite charity, the St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, Montana, 59004.
