Lee, wife Jody and their children Cassidy and Michael John of Santa Fe, NM; son Christopher K. Lee, wife Lisa and their children Harrison and Aiden of Roswell, Georgia. Mary is also survived by a brother, Fr. John Carney of Rio Rancho, NM; and former spouse Robert E. Lee of Santa Fe, NM. Mary Lou Carney was born on September 11, 1944 in New York City, daughter of Irish immigrants Michael Carney of County Donegal, Ireland and Catherine Morgan Carney of County Monaghan, Ireland. Mary graduated from Dominican Commercial Catholic High School in NYC. She married Robert E. Lee, her high school boyfriend who was recruited for his athletic talents to attend St. Michael's College in Santa Fe. After moving to Santa Fe, Mary began raising a family on a small ranch with dirt floors, an extension cord for electricity and a common well off of a bumpy dirt road, now Hwy 14, a far cry from the conveniences of NYC. Mary went to work as a secretary to help support her young family and due to her incredible entrepreneurial talent and drive, started her own company in Santa Fe, Homes & Land Magazine and Homes Santa Fe magazine, real estate publications for the Santa Fe and Northern NM areas. Mary became very active in the real estate community supporting the industry with her publications, her charitable donations and dedication for the real estate community. Mary also contributed throughout her life to many non-profit organizations that supported the Santa Fe community but she was especially fond of the Salvation Army and the NM Boys and Girls Ranches. Mary will be remembered for being a smart and successful entrepreneurial business woman, for her love of Santa Fe, NYC and all things Irish, her generosity to the Santa Fe community and her tireless love she gave to her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and friends. She had a heart of gold and great love for the poor.
