IZAY, VICTOR In rememberance of our friend Victor Izay on the one year anniversary of his passing. "Uncle Vic" was born on December 23, 1923 in Watertown, NY, to Hungarian immigrants George and Helen Izay. His father was successful in real estate until the stock market crash of 1929. Vic served as a sergeant during World War II in the Armored Corps, 486 Ordnance Evacuation Company (tank recovery unit). He was involved in the D-Day landings. After the war, he enrolled at Los Angeles City College, studying along drama alongside Victor French and Vic Tayback (the trio calling themselves 'The Three Vics'). He was a prolific actor, known for semi-regular roles on TV's "Gunsmoke" (the character of Bull) and "The Waltons" (the town doctor) and for films such as "Wild Hogs" (2007), for the recurring character of Doc in the Billy Jack movie series and for "Employee of the Month" (2006). He was married to Connie Izay and later to Jo Roybal. In Albuquerque he was known as a teacher, director, actor, author and playwright. He established the New Vic Players and co-founded the Old Town Studio in Albuquerque, producing and directing more than 200 plays. He died on January 20, 2014 in Glendora, California, USA. He now lies in Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Cemetery beside his wife Connie (herself a medical consultant on the shows "Marcus Welby, MD" & "M.A.S.H.") and will always shine brightly in the memories of his friends.
