RUBIO, EDWARD LOUIS Edward Louis Rubio, 84 of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born on April 21, 1930 in Las Vegas, NM to Timoteo and Virginia (Mondragon) Rubio. He graduated from Robertson High School in Las Vegas, and later attended Western NM University in Silver City. Edward was a military veteran, having served in the Korean conflict. Edward is survived by his wife, Priscilla Rubio (Greenier), whom he knew from childhood in Las Vegas. Edward and Priscilla united in their 20s and moved to Albuquerque in 1955, where they settled to raise a large and extended family. Edward owned and operated the Yucca Lounge on Central for more than 35 years, an historical landmark in Albuquerque for decades. Edward loved New Mexico, its natural beauty, and all that it had to offer his beloved family. Edward was a devout Catholic and took pride raising his children in a religious household, steeped with traditions unique to New Mexico. Edward's extended family and passel of friends will all remember him as a loving father, generous man, friend to all, and pillar of strength to those who loved him most. These few words cannot express how many lives Edward touched in his 84 years of life. He will be mourned by many, missed by legion, and remembered by all. In addition to his loving wife Priscilla, Edward is survived by sons Edward George, Robert, and David Rubio, all in Albuquerque, Rodney and Johnny Lozano in Alaska; daughters Patricia Rubio, Gina Rubio, Loretta (and Charlie) Steele; Nancy (and B. Julian) Serna, and Pinky Salvo, also in Albuquerque, Karesse (and Bob) Grenier in New York, Elaine (and John) Graham in Farmington, and Pauline (and Robert) Ryan in Arizona; and younger brother John G. Rubio of Albuquerque. One of Edward's great joys in life was his 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. Edward was preceded in death by his daughter, Nadine Lozano, his two grandsons Jonathon DeVolk and John-Michael Graham, brothers David, George, Tim, and Carlos Rubio, and sisters Frances Montoya and Josephine Rubio. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at FRENCH - Wyoming. The mass and funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Queen of Heaven Church, 5311 Phoenix, Ave. N.E. in Albuquerque, with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Special thanks is extended to Brenda Solano and her family for the loving care they provided to Edward during the last years of his life.
