CHAVEZ, JOE D. age 65, born March 12, 1949 in Albuquerque, NM, went to heaven on December 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his son Michael. Joe is survived by his loving wife Helen of 47 years; son Simon (Felma); daughter Trisha (Elias); daughter-in-law Becky; brothers Demetrio (Jessie); Steve Nieto (Lorraine); Joe Nieto (Josie); sister Evelyn Chavez, and Patsy (Stash) and Mary Nieto; along with his grandkids; great-grandkids; many nieces and nephews; his best friend Bob; his loving companions Buddy and Chewy. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 beginning at 5:00 PM at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd, NE, followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 820 Broadway Blvd. SE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. Pallbearers will be Elias S. Salas III, Elias J. Salas IV, Joeray Chavez, Jerome Chavez, Gabriel Quintana, Henry Felix. Honorary pallbearers are Fabian and Jose Chavez.
