DIXON, DANCA Age 92, passed away peacefully in her home on November 12, 2014. She was born January 19, 1922 in Sofia NM to immigrant Bulgarian parents. After WW II Danca moved to Albuquerque where she met Jim Dixon at a USO dance. They were married on December 22, 1946, living in Taos and Santa Fe, where they raised their four boys. Danca worked for the NM State Highway Dept. until 1983. She belonged to Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Toast Masters, DeMolay Mom, and attended St. John's United Methodist Church. In later years, Jim and Danca spent winters in Apache Junction, AZ where Danca created beautiful paintings and ceramics. The Dixon family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Raymond Ortega, her caregiver, for his devoted care to Danca. She is preceded in death by her parents George Sr. and Lucy Belcheff, her siblings Evanca, Mary, Polly, George Jr. and her husband Jim. Danca is survived by her brother Steve Belcheff (Alba), four children Gary (Susan), Jerry (Debbie), Jim Jr. (Kim) and Harold (Kathy); eleven grandchildren Rebecca, Russell (Kindee), Monica, Melanie, Adam, Jessica, Jared, Lauren, Travis, Evan and Kimber and four great-grandchildren Anika, Lucy, Slyler, and Miles. Visitation will be at Berardinelli Mortuary on Luisa Street on November 20 from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. John's United Methodist in Santa Fe on November 21 at 10 am with graveside services at the National Cemetery at 12:45 pm.
