BURKE, SALLY BOONE After a long, full, rich life, Sally Burke passed away peacefully in her Albuquerque home on October 1, 2014. Sally celebrated her 88th birthday this past August. Memories of her wit, her insights and her humor will be always cherished in the hearts of her many dear friends. She will forever be remembered as a loving sister, moth er, grandmother and great- grandmother by her family: brother Charles; sister-in-law Josefa; son John; daughter-in-law Yoko; daughter Lucy Soleyn; son-in-law Sam; grandchildren Kiyoto, Tamarind, and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Selah and Zion; and her extended family Ryan B. Born in Cleveland Ohio in 1926, Sally was one of four children: Betsy, Bob and Charles. Growing up she loved riding horses with her friends. Sally graduated from Syracuse University. She was married to Jack Burke and had three children. Sally was a complex, funny, intelligent, and generous person. She believed in the beauty of the natural world. She treasured the uniqueness and wonder displayed in the birds she loved to watch. She also, believed in the goodness of people. Sally continued to learn, grow, and thrive until her final days. In recent years, Sally deeply appreciated the care, love and support of her many friends; all the birders, the aquatics group at the pool, her extraordinary friend Lannois and Ron her neighbor who would do anything for her. Because you were so special to us, saying goodbye is very hard. We will miss you Sally, but we know that you are with God, at peace, and happily reunited with your beloved son Dan.
