DELZEITH, JOHN Mr. John Delzeith of Albuquerque, New Mexico departed this life on 12 September 2014 after a brief struggle with cancer. A native of Amherst, Ohio, John was born 2 November 1930 to the late Sylvester and Adeline Delzeith. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia; daughter, Susan and husband Steve Huffman of Aptos, California; two sons, Drew Delzeith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Deacon Doug Delzeith and wife Renee of Hinesville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Angela Moldonado, Veronica Taylor, Kathleen Munoz and Sarah Troha; nine great-grandchildren, Angelo and Marcelo Moldonado, Adriana and Donovan Taylor, Julianna, Gavin, Carter and Jameson Hensley, and Emersyn Troha. John is also survived by his sister, Catherine Urig from Amherst, Ohio. John and Patricia married September 14th, 1957 and spent the next 35 years living in Ohio where John worked at US Steele in Lorain, Ohio. After John retired from US Steele in 1982, he and Pat moved to Victorville, California and lived there for thirteen years before moving to Albuquerque in 2001. John was, and will always be, a United States Marine who served proudly during the Korean conflict until he was medically retired in 1952. He was a Purple Heart recipient who sustained injuries from that conflict that would impact him for the remainder of his life. He was a life time member of the Disabled Americans Veterans Association where he served in numerous offices. John was always an extremely hard working man. He spent 38 years of his life working at the mill in Lorain and loved to farm as well. He never shied from putting in an honest day's work and helping everyone along the way. John was a very devout Catholic who, along with his wife Patricia, dedicated much time to their faith community wherever they resided. John was known as the "rosary string cutter" for the local Rosary Society at the Sacred Heart Parish in Albuquerque where, along with his wife and the group, made many thousands of rosaries that were sent around the world. John's passions in life were the love of his life, his wife Patricia, along with their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed big band music, cats and had an innate ability to fix about anything that was mechanical. If it had wheels or a motor John could fix it! Services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church located at 833 Arizona SE, on Friday, 19 September 2014. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Father Mark Schultz will preside over the Mass with John's son, Deacon Doug Delzeith concelebrating. Final internment will be at the Santa Fe National Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Disabled Americans Veterans Association, PO Box 145550, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. ABQ. 505-343-8008.
