CHAMBLIN, RALPH VAN SICKLER JR. Ralph Van Sickler Chamblin, Jr. was born in Herndon, VA on January 27, 1922 and passed away at La Vida Llena Retirement Community on March 10, 2014. He is survived by wife, Helen McCleur Chamblin; three daughters, Virginia Chamblin, Martha Bornick and Margaret Chamblin; a step son, Dan McCleur; a step nephew, Tom Clark and other close relatives. His body has been donated to the U. of N.M. School of Medicine for the purpose of medical research and transplants. He will then be cremated and his final resting place will be in Herndon, VA. Ralph attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Education and a Master's degree in French from Middleburg College, Vermont. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific in WWII and in the Naval Reserve. Ralph taught Spanish and French in Delaware and New Jersey for a total of 33 years, then joined the Peace Corp. and served in Liberia, West Africa. For many years Ralph was a member of St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church and served in the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He later joined Christ the King Anglican Church. Ralph was active as a lay Eucharist minister, a member of Prison Fellowship, Cursillo, National Education Assoc. of N.M., Senior Olympics and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, 2:00 p.m. in Carter Hall at La Vida Llena Retirement Community, 10501 Lagrima De Oro Rd NE Albuquerque, NM 87111.
