CERVANTES, JOE E. Joe (Levi) Cervantes, 100 yrs. old, WWII Veteran, born on 10/17/1913, passed away peacefully in his home December 16 surrounded by family, and became an Angel of God. Born in Bluewater Village, NM to Trinidad and Juan Cervantes, resided in Gallup, NM for 75 years. Was a member of United Mine Workers NO. 7777 from 1930-1944, enlisted in United States Army in 1944 with a Honorable Discharge in 1946, worked in the Gallup Schools from 1946-1976 as a Custodian, moved to Blue Water Acres in 1987, then to Albuquerque in 2010 spending his last three years with family. Joe loved all animals especially his dogs, cats and geese. Preceded in death by his parents Trinidad & Juan, one brother Joe, three sisters Maria, Hilda and Margaret, his infant daughter Ruthie Jean, son Anthony (Mofe) Cervantes and daughter Frances Cervantes. He is survived by his wife Betty of 64 years; children Dora (caregiver) and Guillermo Lajeuenesse, Irene and Blue Sena, John and Veronica Cervantes, Phyllis and Andrew Blea; also Stephen, Gerald, Dolores, Viola; 29 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren. Joe is loved and admired by family and friends, will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Appreciation to Amber Care Hospice for providing him comfort and peace. Pallbearers will be granddaughters Dolly Cervantes, Cindy Toland, Tanya Maestas, Desiree Sena, Hillary Blea, Felicia Avalos, and Honorary Pallbearers, Jeanette James, Jessie Zamora, Selia Cervantes and Andrea Montoya. Viewing will be 4-6pm, Rosary following, Thursday, December 19 at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Mass, Friday at 10:00am at Holy Family Church with Father Romero at 562 Atrisco Dr SW, Albuquerque, NM. Catholic Burial to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Celebration at Moose Lodge after Burial, 2121 Edith Blvd. NE.
