GALE, FRANK H. age 59, of Belen, New Mexico and formerly of La Garita, Colorado and Dayton, Ohio, stepped off into the void on August 30, 2013. Born at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, to SMSGT (Ret) Frank and Justine Gale, the first of three boys, Frank learned firsthand about different cultures, arts, foods, languages and customs as he traveled throughout Europe and the United States as a military brat. After graduating from high school in Dayton, Ohio and attending two semesters at Wright State University, Frank embarked on a lifelong career as an itinerant laborer working in agriculture, ranching, construction and the manufacturing industries, mostly in the Southwest and the Rocky Mountain regions. Frank, who prided himself on his work-ethic, worked up to the day his illness forced him to retire. An avid reader, Frank always had a book at his side. When not reading he could always be found listening to Blues and Hillbilly music, the louder the better for listening. Frank was blessed with the tremendous gifts of wit and humor, always ready with a story or two to share with one and all. Self-described as "terminally handsome" and as "Mr. Sunshine", no one ever disagreed with his pronouncements. Frank is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ellen Keeler Gale of the family home; his son, Angus Gale of Denver, Colorado; and brothers, Matthew of Tampa, Florida and Robert of Boston, Massachusetts. Frank and his family would like to thank all of those family and friends, some who traveled great distances, for attending Frank's wake on 6/22/2013. As usual, Frank held court and a great time was had by all.
