KALEKO, CAROL B. age 80, of Albuq, NM, passed away peacefully in Knoxville, TN on August 4, 2013. She grew up in New York State and graduated from New York University. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Kaleko; parents Bertha and Aaron Bernstein; and brother David Bernstein. Carol, an award-winning artist, is well known in New Mexico for her hand-built vessels. But prior to working in clay, her oil paintings and silk screen prints could be seen in New York area galleries. She is survived by son Jed and wife Talley Kaleko of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren Reace, Anya, and Lukas; son Tom and wife Kathy Kaleko of Lenexa, Kansas; grandchildren Parker and Spencer; daughter Jill and husband Larry Woods of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren Sam and Casey; sister-in-law Lillian Gellin of Great Neck, New York; and many loved nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will take place at her home on September 1, 2013 from 2:00-5:00pm.
