NORDHAUS, MARJORIE EVARTS Marjorie was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 28, 1920, the only child of Anna Moness and Edward Evarts. She attended Smith College, and in her junior year when WWII prevented her from studying abroad, she attended Radcliffe College for a year. There she met her first husband, George P. Springer, who was a student at Harvard on a Refugee Scholarship. Marge went on to attend Simmons College where she received her Master of Social Work. While living in Boston, George and Marge had three children. The family moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where Marge worked as a clinical social worker at the Yale Child Study Center, and George was the Assistant Dean of the Yale Graduate School. The Springers moved to NM in 1965 when George was appointed Dean of the Graduate School at UNM. Marge took a position at UNM and at the Albuquerque Child Guidance Clinic. Marge's second husband was Robert J. Nordhaus, (Bob), a New Mexico attorney, ski and tramway pioneer, and businessman. They enjoyed many happy years in the home they built at the foot of the Sandia Mountains. In later life they lived at the Montebello Senior Living Community. Marge continued to work at the Albuquerque Child Guidance Clinic until her retirement at age 80. Marge is survived by her son Peter Springer and daughter-in-law Gail Springer of Santa Fe; her daughter Lisbeth Springer of Santa Barbara, California; granddaughter Jillian Springer of Oakland, CA; step-sons Robert Nordhaus, Jr., Richard Nordhaus, William Nordhaus; step-daughter Betsy Messica, and their families. She was predeceased by her first husband George in 1972, her second husband Bob in 2007, and her son Paul in 2012. A gathering will be held at the Albuquerque Jewish Community Center at 5520 Wyoming Blvd. NE on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 5:00pm.
