STRIBLING, MARTHA GOLDEN WILLIAMS Our mom, Martha Golden Williams Stribling left her frail earthly body on a bright winter's day, February 5, 2013. Her dynamic life began as a coal miner's daughter on February 26, 1918. Her parents Frank and Roxie Williams moved from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky seeking better health in Loving, New Mexico where Martha, the oldest of ten children lived and prospered on a farm. Her sister Marge Fate of La Jolla, California, her brother Lindel Williams of Phoenix, Arizona, and her brothers Brady and Colonel of Missouri are her remaining siblings. Her niece Randy Williams Kilman and her children Ronda and Rene were among those with whom mom enjoyed many good times. She had many friends some who knew her as Mabel. Martha met her future husband Tom on the tennis courts at UNM and they are now continuing their love of tennis in a heavenly realm. We wish them well! They began their early marriage years after dad's service in WWII and mom's work in the defense industry in San Diego and caring for their first son Tom on a Corrales farm. Dad turned his gift of salesmanship from apples to real estate and soon prospered in Albuquerque. He became an expert in trades and exchanges which he enjoyed more than sales and later both he and mom invested in and developed residential properties. They shared their love of nature and tennis with their seven children. When others would have retired in their 60's, Tom and Martha invested in their first seven Super Cuts shops that have now grown into 20, now prospering and managed by several of their children. All of their children live in Albuquerque. Tom III, Martha Joy, Margie, Steve, George, John, and Joel (departed). Tom and Martha have twelve grandchildren. Mom loved country living and always had many animals including dogs, cats, goats, horses, bunnies, raccons and always chikens on the farm. Martha stongly believed that nonone should ever go to lunch anywhere that did not serve a good martini. Mom loved life, had a wonderful sense of humor, an excellent investment saavy, loved a good scotch whiskey and a great game of tennis! Mom often did the daily chores after midnight listening to talk radio. She loved her kids most of the time. We will miss her! A Celebration of Martha's life will be shared at The Albuquerque Country Club, 601 Laguna Blvd SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sunday February 17, 2013 from 2:00pm until 6:00 pm including a reception. In Lieu of flowers we welcome your donations to any of your favorite charities. Mom supported Joy Junction, The Edgar Casey Foundation and the Nature Conservancy.
