MAREZ, LLOYD M. Age 82, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013, with his family by his side. He was born on April 27, 1930 to Ernest and Enufelia (Martinez) Marez in Bingham Canyon, UT. He retired from the US Air Force in 1974 after 26 years of service and moved to Rio Rancho, NM in 1975. Mr. Marez then began working for the Albuquerque Public Schools System. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, was a Post Commander and District Commander for the American Legion #118, New Mexico Honor Guard, a Boys State counselor for many years, and an avid golfer. He and his wife, Anna, were very active in Rio Rancho Merrymakers and enjoyed all of the activities and fun it had to offer. Mr. Marez was preceded in death by two children, Edward Marez and Shirley Marez-Mortensen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna, of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Deborah Marez-Baca and husband, Lawrence, of Albuquerque, NM, and Mark Marez of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Karalyn Baca, Lianna Marez, Allizon Marez, and Cody Mortensen; great-granddaughter, Helena LeBaron; special grandchild, Erin Morin; and many others who mourn his passing. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 18, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. Inurnment with full Military Honors will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho.
