MCCURDY -- WILLIAM BLAKE (BILL) November 5, 1961 - September 1, 2012 Although friends and family may argue that he was dropped off by spaceship, Bill was born in Queens, NY to parents William and Jean. He was raised along with his older sister Sheri, younger sister Marla, and younger brother Michael on Long Island, NY where he graduated in 1979 from North Babylon High School. Bill has lived in and loved Albuquerque for over 30 years. He landed here by way of the University of New Mexico, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Chemistry in 1987. Bill worked as a research technologist at UNM from 1989-2007, focusing on clinical research, transfusion research, pharmacology and microbiology. Over the years, Bill has explored many mountains and landscapes as he hiked, camped, biked, back-packed, and hunted throughout New Mexico and beyond. He knew how to whip up a good batch of home-brewed beer and keep his friends and family entertained with his off-beat sense of humor and one-liners. Bill enjoyed many games of disc golf at Roosevelt Park. There was truly no one on the planet like Bill and those who knew him will love him forever. He leaves behind loving relatives including two nephews, a niece, a grand-nephew, aunts, an uncle, and a host of cousins around the country. Bill leaves very dear friends around the country as well as many in his beloved New Mexico. These are all brothers, sisters, nieces, & nephews of Bill's heart, who brought joy and fun to his life every day.
