AVRITT -- WILLIAM A. "ART" Age 88, an Albuquerque resident for over 64 years, died peacefully on June 28, 2012 surrounded by his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his wife Otelia (Tillie), parents Frank Avritt and Lucille Whitaker. He is survived by his brother Leslie (Jane) of San Diego, CA; his children Bill (Christine) of Shingle Springs, CA, Donna Torres of Albuq, NM, Michael (Deryn) of Broomfield, CO, Paul (Joy) of Corrales, NM, and Shawn (Jennie) of Albuq NM; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Art was born in Neosho, MO, on September 21, 1923. In his teen years he lived in Kansas City, MO. After graduation from high school he, his mother and brother moved to San Diego, CA. where Art worked in an aircraft factory and there he met and married Tillie. During WWII he was inducted into the Army Air Corp and served in North Africa and Italy. After the war Art and Tillie moved to Albuq, NM, where he worked for many years as a bookkeeper and office manager. He also served as a Boy Scout Leader, a marriage enrichment facilitator and a greeter at Holy Rosary Church. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW, Albuq.; a reception at the church will he held immediately following the service. Burial service for the immediate family will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please, donate to a charity of your choice.
