MCCULLOCH -- GORDON J. Age 62, died on March 26 after a short battle with metastatic melanoma. He grew up in Millersburg, Kentucky, and after graduating from high school joined the Air Force and served for four years during the Vietnam War. Following his overseas tour he was stationed at Alamogordo and fell in love with the southwest. He obtained his bachelors and masters from New Mexico State, his law degree from Vanderbilt and returned to Albuquerque where he entered the practice of law. He and Sarah Bradley formed their law firm Bradley & McCulloch in 1980. During his 22 years of practice he achieved the respect and admiration of his staff, colleagues and judges. The law was important to him as was his reputation and that of the firm, but his real loves were his family and friends. After 20 years he decided it was time to close the firm and embrace other passions. For Gordon this included skiing, biking and travel. He moved to Breckenridge, CO, where he became a ski instructor. He joked often about the decrease in his hourly wage. While in Breckenridge he met his wife, Ivana Chabadova, and they had a short but wonderful six years together. Gordon was an avid skier and cyclist, skiing over 100 days a year and mastering the most technical runs on the mountain, then enthusiastically leading sometimes terrified, but always grateful, clients down them. When not traveling, he and Ivana cycled all over Summit County during the regions beautiful, if brief, summer season. Gordon was also a great history and political science enthusiast and could always be relied upon to remember exact dates, places and persons involved in any notable historical or political event. When Gordon died the world darkened at the loss of a rare and beautiful person, a brilliant mind, youthful spirit, loving husband, caring father and devoted friend to many. His sense of humor and irrepressible smile will always be remembered. He is survived by his wife Ivana Chabadova; son Sean McCulloch (wife Jenn Small); daughter Megan McCulloch (husband Larry Foukas); grandchildren Luna, Carter, Eliza and Silas; brother Charles McCulloch (wife Debbie); and too many friends to mention. A memorial in celebration of Gordon's life will be held at the home of Sarah Bradley and Tom Clark, 1500 Van Cleave Rd NW, commencing at 5:00 pm on Friday, April 6th. All Gordon's friends and colleagues are invited to meet his family and share "Gordon stories."
