MARCELLI -- FRANK SR. Joined our Lord Jesus in his Heavenly home on February 11, 2012. He was born in the coal mining town of Dawson, NM on October 25, 1929 to Mariano and Laura Nizzi-Marcelli. Frank graduated from Dawson High School in 1950 where he was class president and a football player. He was in the Army for three years during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for many years in the soft drink bottling industry as a production manager. After retiring from full-time work, he worked part-time as a crossing guard at Cochiti Elementary and St. Therese Catholic School. He loved football and having been stationed in Pennsylvania, was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also coached YAFL. Frank also loved gardening, camping and fishing. He attended the Dawson reunions every two years where he enjoyed those visits with old friends, classmates and relatives. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, Albuquerque. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. Pallbearers will be Frank's grandsons. Honorary Pallbearer will be friend Sam Rivera. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Frank Marcelli's memory to Vista Care Hospice at 601 Dr. Martin Luther King NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102-3619; or to the American Cancer Society at 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Funeral Services at 343-8008.
