VALDEZ -- MARY E. (BETTY) Went to the Lord on September 28, 2011, after a long illness at home with her children by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alma Mahaffey of Florida, and her husband of 53 years, Andy of Albuquerque. She is survived by her children, Jim Valdez and wife Missy of Denver, Giles Valdez of Albuquerque, Roberta Valdez of Albuquerque, Bobby Valdez of Phoenix, Mike Valdez and wife Heather of Phoenix; grandchildren, Nicole and Mike of Denver, Lexie, Jasmine and Cheyenne of Phoenix; great-grandchildren, Marissa and Isabella of Denver; brother, Jim Mahaffey and wife Phyllis of Oklahoma; sisters, Judy Mahaffey of Denver, and Billyrae Murokoshi and husband Mike of Hawaii; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Mom, we love you, and you will always be in our hearts. A private family celebration honoring her life will take place at a later date.
