MILLER -- WESLEY G. Age 89, a resident of Albuquerque died Saturday, September 24, 2011 of a broken heart after loosing Dixie, his wife of 59 years in June of this year. He is survived by his niece, Vicki Christensen and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; nephew, Keith Rutherford and wife, Sharon of Placitas; niece, Judy Nixon of Nevada; many great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Wesley was born in Cleveland, Ohio and after graduation entered into the United States Army and proudly served during WWII in the Rhineland and Central Europe. He received his undergraduate degree from UNM in Industrial Arts and his Masters Degree from Teacher's College in Greeley, Colorado. Wesley taught school in Connecticut, El Paso, Texas, and nineteen years in the Los Angeles, California school system. He retired to Albuquerque in 1986 where he enjoyed the quiet life with Dixie. In his early years he was considered a "rock hound" often hiking in the desert with Dixie. He loved talking about his earlier travels with Dixie. Wesley also loved to read about the supernatural and US history. He was mechanically inclined, loved taking things apart, cleaning them and putting them back together. Wesley often said he was born in the wrong era and the world moved too fast today. He was an avid walker up until the very end. Wesley loved fixing his own breakfast, eating bananas and especially hot dogs. He was a loving husband, uncle and great-uncle and he and his great smile will be missed by all who knew him, including Bailey. Wesley's family would like to thank Jo, his caregiver of the past two months for her wonderful conversations and her caring ways. She made a difference in his life. Also, thanks to Peggy and Joel, Wesley's neighbors, for all of their help. Graveside Services were held at Santa Fe National Cemetery where he now rests with his beloved wife. "He was a gentle soul." Wesley and Dixie are together again in eternity. Please visit our online guestbook for Wesley at: RememberTheirStory.com FRENCH 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE (505) 275-3500
