URITU -- GHEORGHE SR. Age 52, a resident of Albuquerque since 1988, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 17, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Manuela "Nina"; son, Gheorghe Uritu, Jr. of Albuquerque; parents, Gheorghe and Ioana Uritu of Romania; sisters, Elena Spilca of Albuquerque and Mihaela Uritu of Munich, Germany; nieces and nephew, Marica, Mihaela and Mihai, Jr.; mother-in-law, Viorica Trifu of Romania; numerous other relatives; and many friends in both Romania and Albuquerque. Gheroghe was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mihai Spilca and father-in-law, Aurel Trifu. Gheorghe was born in 1959 in Romania and after high school joined the Romanian Police Academy. He served as a police officer in Romania until immigrating to the United States in 1988, at which time he came to Albuquerque to join his sister, Elena and brother-in-law, Gheorghe worked for them until starting his own business. At the time of his death he worked at GST Gas Station on Coors. Gheorghe was a happy, outgoing and very friendly person who never held a grudge. He felt very fortunate to live in the United States and was a very giving type of person. Gheorghe was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends and family may visit French--University Chapel, Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Service will be held at French-University Chapel Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. Cremation will take place and Gheorghe will be returned to his homeland at some future date.
