NARDIE -- MAXINE BROWN passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011. She was born in Sidney, IA July 13, 1927 and lived there until her marriage to Oral Brown. Moving to Osceola, IA, they raised four children and owned the Brown Shoe Store. Her retail experience allowed her to live in multiple cities in Iowa and she finally settled in Tama, IA. Maxine married Burt Nardie in 1977, with whom she traveled and loved until his death. She then retired to Albuquerque and continued her life long interests with the DAR, Kiwanis, duplicate bridge, and The Republican Party. Maxine will be remembered for her zest for life and wanting it done her way. Maxine was preceded in death by her mother Sylvia Dillman Gore; her father, Lee Gore; sister, Elizabeth Hall; brother, Austin (Buddy) Gore; and husband Burt Nardie. Maxine is survived by her four children, Charles Brown, Gene Brown, Pam Brown Coley, Bruce Brown; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at French-Wyoming Chapel, Sunday, September 11, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, IA Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 12 noon.
