SPEHAR -- PETER G. Died peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, following a two year struggle with Pancreatic Cancer. Teacher, artist, sculptor, historian, cherished uncle and brother, Pete was a man of great wit and sly humor. His sparkling blue eyes and infectious smile complimented his incomparable love and devotion for his family and his unlimited guidance to all that held him dear. He was a great story teller, sharing his life's many adventures. Pete was a devoted son to his foster parents, caring for them for m any years. He served in the United States Air Force in the 4900th Air Police Squadron at Kirtland Air Force Base and participated in Operation Ivy in the Marshall Islands. He received the national Service Medal of Good Conduct. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the Albuquerque Business College where he went on to teach for many years. Pete worked for years at Cee Vee Company Inc. handling cash accounting on the New Mexico State Fairgrounds. He was born in Trout Creek, Michigan on June 29, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Spehar; foster parents, Dr. William and Ann Eggert; sisters, Phyllis Ables, Joan Johnson, Anita and Gladys Roso. He is survived by brother, Monsignor Francis X. Eggert; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Charley villa; sister, Jeri Pierce; nieces and nephews, Melodee Witt and husband, Phil, Carole Sullivan and husband, Danny, Daniel Sandlin and wife, Julie, Shirley Sandlin, Carla Villa and husband Mike Bickel; and numerous other nieces and nephews. His love will remain in our hearts forever. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 4, 2011, 7:00 p.m., at French - University Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, September 5, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment to be at a later date.
