RIFFENBURGH -- RUTH E. Age 79, of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on August 14 after a brief illness. Ruth was born to Walter and Ann Eldredge in Salt Lake City. She lived all over the country as she grew up. She moved to New Mexico in 1951 where she met and married her beloved husband, Art. They both loved New Mexico and wished to make it their home for life. They have both now fulfilled that wish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; her brother, Steve Eldredge; and sister, Jane Ann Newton. She leaves behind her son, Harry Riffenburgh; her daughter, Donna Strebe, and husband, David; her daughter, Audrey Riffenburgh, and three grandchildren, Daniel Strebe, Renata Strebe, and Hannah Strebe. Ruth graduated from, and taught surveying at Albuquerque Technical/Vocational Institute, now CNM. Later she founded her own company and became one of the first women contractors in New Mexico. Her company, Adobe Concepts by Ruth, was an early leader in the design and construction of adobe and solar homes in the Albuquerque area. In her later years, Ruth loved walking along the irrigation ditches of the valley, where she loved the wildlife, nature, and mountain views. Ruth had the gift of helping others slow down and see the beauty in nature and the world around her. She loved music and playing her accordion for friends and family members. She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ruth and her refreshing perspective toward life will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Daniel's Family Funeral Services Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle NE.
