SANDOVAL -- ESTHER L. Age 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Esther was previously a resident of Wagon Mound, NM. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She is survived by sons, Leo and Eutimio (Tim) Sandoval, Stella Baker and husband, Don, Cecilia Bailey and husband, Ray and son-in-law, Larry Nelson, her sisters, Evelyn Orosco and Sophie LeFebre, and brother-in-law, Joe Davalos; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Filadelfio; and daughters, Dolores Nelson and Marjorie Sandoval. Esther was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society and Blue Army at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She retired from the food service division of the University of New Mexico. A Rosary will be recited by the Altar Rosary Society on Thursday, July 21, 2011, 6:30 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE, with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 22, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Ben Nelson, Todd Bailey, Benjamin Nelson, Carol Sandoval, Kim Rayner, and Esther Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Sandoval, Dan Montoya, and Danielle McCrary. Gospel reading will be by Lynn Nelson. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of New Mexico Chapter, 9500 Montgomery NE.
