FELSMAN -- JACKSON KIRK Beloved husband, father, son, friend and colleague. Born August 9, 1950, Bethesda, Maryland, passed away May 22, 2011 in London, England while in transit to the US. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Irene Crabtree Felsman; children, Caitlin May, Colin Lee and Kai Hannon Felsman; and mother, Hallie May Felsman. Preceded in death by father, Jack Lee Felsman; and brother, Mark Steven Felsman. Kirk attended Del Norte High School, Albuquerque, NM. He received a BA in political science from University of New Mexico, 1972, Summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and went on to earn an EdD, concentration in Child Psychology, Harvard University, 1981. He was the recipient of a Doctoral Research Fulbright, 1986 and a Lyndhurst Prize Recipient, Lyndhurst Foundation 1986-89. Kirk was a clinical psychologist who tenaciously dedicated his life to marginalized children all over the world- those who lived on the street, child soldiers, refugees, those displaced by war, and victims of disaster. He worked in and led projects in Colombia, Philippines, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and contributed to initiatives in Rwanda, Haiti, Afghanistan, Israel, and the Sudan. He most recently served as Senior OVC Technical Advisor for USAID'S Regional HIV/AIDS Program in Southern Africa. He loved to ski, swim, collect old cars and antiques and had an amazing Tarzan yell. A closed family service was held May 27, 2011 in Uxbridge, England and a memorial tribute will be held at USAID, Pretoria on June 3, 2011. A memorial service to honor Kirk's life will be held in the fall in New Hampshire, date to be announced.
