LAFORGE -- Timothy J. LaForge, 49, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Mr. LaForge was born on September 6, 1961 to Gerald (Gerry) and Therese (Wujek) LaForge. He entered the US Army in 1978 and served almost 14 years until his Honorable Discharge in 1992. During his military career he earned the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with the Number 3 Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge for both .38 caliber pistol and M-6 rifle. He served as a Squad Leader, Tank Commander, and Staff Sergeant. Upon Mr. LaForge's Honorable Discharge, he then began employment with the Penitentiary of New Mexico where he served as a Correctional Officer in the maximum security prison and was a member of the SWAT team for five years. He then joined the Santa Fe Police department of which he had recently retired after 15 years of service. He had attended the University of Phoenix and worked towards a degree in Business Administration. He was very proud of being fluent in the German language which is part of his heritage. He will be remembered for his love of motorcycles, cars, science fiction movies, martial arts and scuba diving. Though he was a very private man, Mr. LaForge was a very loving gentleman of excellence. He was preceded in death by his mother, Therese Williams; his biological mother, Cheryl Lockert; and his best friend Chris Archuleta. Mr. LaForge is survived by his beloved wife, Yumiko LaForge, of Rio Rancho, NM; father, Gerald K. LaForge and his wife, Pam; children, Brittany LaForge and Tyra LaForge; stepsons, Gilbert Lovato, Ricky Lovato, and Lawrence Lovato; one grandchild, Kayla Lovato; brother, Chris LaForge and his best friend, Felipe Cortez; sister, Martina LaForge Lara and her husband, Enrique; half-brothers and sisters, Darwin, Deborah, Michael, Michelle and Jeff; father-in-law, Kazuhiro; mother-in-law, Nobuko; brother-in-law, Akira; sister-in-law, Yukiko; nephews, Tsukasa, and J.J. Apodaca (US Army); very special friends, Elke LaForge, Julia Quinlan, Annette Lambardo, and Natalia Ulrich; and Tim and Yumiko's beloved loyal dog and companion, Beowulf affectionately known as "Bebs." The Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Calvary Chapel of Rio Rancho, 138 Frontage Rd. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Zane Ward, Corinne Jones, Mike Rute, Pat Aston, Dave Holiday, and Jesse Bransford. Honorary Pallbearers will be every member of Santa Fe Police Department and his mentor and brother Tony Oliva.
