CAZIER -- Rose Ellen Fogarty. We celebrate the life of Rose Ellen Fogarty Cazier who passed peacefully on to Eternal Life on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Rose was born in Hallock, MN to Patrick Francis and Rose Ellen Rice Fogarty on November 5, 1916. The sixth of seven children, she grew up on a ranch which her father managed in Wilsall, MT. She worked her way through Montana State University, aided by a scholarship she earned as valedictorian of her high-school class, and completed a bachelor's degree in secretarial science. She placed a high value on education. She had a way with words and a love for the English language. She was employed by the Soil Conservation Service in Culbertson, MT. Returning to work after rearing her children, she retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1975 after 21 years of service. She married Frank William Cazier in Montana in 1938 and was widowed in 1966. She moved from coast to coast with Frank's employment, settling in Albuquerque, NM in 1949. Rose was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters, her husband of 28 years, her grandson Frank William Cazier III, and her son-in-law Dr. James H. Renken. Left to cherish Rose's memory are her two children: Frank William Cazier, Jr. and wife Penny of Yorktown, VA, and Patricia Cazier Renken of Albuquerque; six grandchildren and their spouses: Dove and William Halverson of Yorktown, VA, Charles and Eunkyung Cazier of Wilmington, NC, Aaron and Amber Sachs of Burlington, NC, Catherine Clemens and Bill Peterson of Santa Fe, Stephanie and Mike Skaggs of Albuquerque, and John and Lisa Renken of Albuquerque; and nineteen great-grandchildren: Jon, Daniel, and Kevin Bouley; Derek and Paige Halverson; Charles and Corban Cazier; Joshua, Rachel, and Noah Sachs; Elizabeth and James Clemens; Nina and Andrew Peterson; Michelle, Jason, and Krista Skaggs, and Lauren and Paige Renken. Rose treasured her family and friends. Independence, high expectations and personal standards, and an indomitable spirit characterized her. She was fiercely devoted to her family and provided unwavering love and support for each one. She was a good and loyal friend, a lifelong friend and not a casual one. Jean Hurly White, Jan Robertson, and Maria Stroken are among them. She considered Anne Scott Leder as an "adopted" daughter. She had a true, tender heart for animals. She was the longest continuous member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was a member of Naomi Circle and looked forward weekly to the Revelation of God's Word Sunday School class with teachers Zelda Maggart and Barbara Spates. After her retirement, she worked as a volunteer at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital and at the Albuquerque Visitors and Convention Bureau and continued to volunteer at St. John's. A memorial service and celebration of Rose's life was held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at St. John's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Clyde Stanfield will officiate. We would like to thank the staff at The Montebello for Rose's loving care.
