MONTOYA -- Rafaelita Montoya In Loving Memory of Rafaelita Carlota Montoya Rafaelita (Ella) Carlota Montoya was born February 16,1917 to Jose I. & Rosa Candelaria. She married Ambrosio Herrera and had three children, Vangie, Patsy and Charlie. Ambrosio died when Charlie was 6 months old. Ella moved in with mom and dad and helped raise the rest of the Candelarias. Ella worked at Albuquerque High School where she met Fermin Montoya. They married and had a daughter, Yvonne. In the mid-sixties Ella & Fermin moved to San Bernardino, CA where Ella worked for the Sheriff's Department and took care of her parents until their deaths, Rosa was 92 and Jose was 93. When Fermin passed Ella moved to Victorville, CA where she was very active in her church and continued to love her family unselfishly. Going strong at 94 she and Yvonne enjoyed playing penny slots at the casino. On April 22, 2011, Ella was welcomed into Heaven with loving arms by her parents, Rosa and Jose, husband Ambrosio and daughter Vangie, husband Fermin and brothers Alberto, Jerry, John, Ramon, James, and sisters Sefora and Dominica. Losing her is painful but she continues to love and guide us, for her spirit lives on in us all.
