CHAVEZ -- Candelario (Lalo), Chavez, age 91, beloved father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 20, 2011. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Chavez; daughter, Laura Trujillo; daughter-in-law, Cocoy Chavez; and brother, Lambert Chavez. He is survived by sons, Charles D Chavez, Manuel D. Chavez and fiance, Cindy; sisters, Helen Chavez, Irene Aragon, Georgia Montoya; brother, Manuel (Bino) Chavez and wife, Vera; 15 grandchildren; 39 great- grandchildren; 19 great- great- grandchildren; and numerous family members and countless friends. He will be greatly missed by all. He was a Veteran of World War II and worked for the AT&SF Railroad for 38 years. Visitation will be Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church following visitation a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Reception following at the American Legion Post 118, located at 1500 Barbra Loop SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Pall Bearers will be Raymond Chavez, Andrew Chavez, David Chavez, Fernando Chavez, Tony Trujillo and Mike Trujillo. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Lalo Chavez and Hiraldo Chavez. Arrangements by: Gabaldon Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to VA Medical Center, Service Organization (135), 1501 San Pedro SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
