FARMER -- Dorothy Nelle Kinkead Andrews Farmer, age 94, joined her Savior and many loved ones gone before her on Monday April 18, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dorothy was born in Lucille, New Mexico to James A.(Grover) and Nelle Kinkead on October 5, 1916. Growing up on New Mexico ranches, Dorothy graduated from Tucumari High School and attended West Texas State Teachers College (now West Texas A&M University) for two years to pursue her love of journalism which is where she met Clyde Andrews. She and Clyde were married Christmas Eve December 24, 1936 and Dorothy worked while Clyde completed his degree. After living in Canyon, TX and Tucumcari, NM they moved to Dawson, NM and then to McLean, TX in 1946 and on to Albuquerque in 1960 where Dorothy worked for Dr. Waldriff until she retired in 1985. Shortly thereafter, Clyde passed away on June 30, 1985. Dorothy's love of writing poetry continued from 1933 until just a few years ago when her eyesight waned. In the midst of all the poems, she began researching family history and wrote many books detailing the lives of many. We shall all cherish her writings along with the books she made for each of her children and for Clyde, filled with mementos only a mother and loving wife would save. On August 4, 1987, Dorothy married Roy Farmer and they made their home in Tucumcari while spending winters in Yuma, AZ. Roy passed away in 2000 and in 2005 Dorothy moved back to Albuquerque. Dorothy (lovingly called Moma Dot) was preceded in death by Clyde and Roy; her parents; her brothers, Howard Kinkead and Lewis Kindead; her sisters, Joe Ann Crockett and Jennie Lou Fields. Surviving Dorothy is her brother, Jimmy Kinkead and wife, Rosemarry; sister- in- law, Jo Kinkead; her children, James Dale Andrews and wife, Julie, Marsha Nell Wise and husband, Gene, and Larry Pat Andrews and wife, Ana. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. Graveside services celebrating her life will be conducted in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday afternoon April 22, 2011 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Witcher, Minister of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will then follow next to her husband Clyde. Dunn Funeral Home, Tucumcari, New Mexico 575- 461-3815.
