WOMACK -- Jeanne Crowe Womack, passed away at age 79 in the early morning of April 16, surrounded by her children and in the arms of her beloved. "Jeannie" as she was known was born November 24, 1931 in Las Animas, Colorado, the only child of Donald and Helen Crowe. She was raised in Lamar and enjoyed a glorious youth. Jeannie was a cheerleader for her high school, a champion barrel racer and was crowned the first Miss Southeast Colorado Rodeo Queen. She also loved working the soda counter at her father's drug store, The Corner Pharmacy. Jeannie met the love of her life, James E. Womack, while a student at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, in 1949. They married in 1953, the same day James became a commissioned officer in the USAF and earned his pilot wings. James and Jeannie spent the first two years of their marriage at Chitosi Airbase, Japan. After returning to the U.S., they settled in Albuquerque where James attended law school, built a practice, and the two of them populated the state with four more republicans! Jeannie held down the fort when her husband was deployed as a fighter pilot to Vietnam, and she always displayed the American Flag proudly. She was a true patriot who unconditionally supported our veterans and troops and was very proud of James, who retired at the rank of Brigidier General as Chief of Staff of the New Mexico National Guard. Jeannie was preceded in death by her beloved son, James E. Womack II, who died at the age of 30 in 1987. She is survived by her sweetheart, James; her daughter Julie and husband, Lt Col Lavell Brown III (Ret, USAF), their daughters, Katie and Carolyn; her daughter Jenifer and husband, Major Mark Jannakos (Ret, NMANG), their children Stephen, Michael, Matthew, and Margaret; and her son Lt Col Jordan Wommack (Ret, USAF) and wife, Debbie, and their children, Stacey and Trevor. Jeannie loved researching family history and geneology, making baby blankets for friends, and collecting antiques. She was an avid football fan, a lifelong member of the Friends of the Albuquerque Public Library and a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Jeannie will be missed by all whose lives were positively influenced by her kind and gentle nature. She was a selfless, beautiful person and her generosity was only matched by her unconditional love.
