HUNGATE -- Bonnie Ruth (Boster) Hungate, 89, passed away on April 16, 2011 after fighting a battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on November 3, 1921 to Buell and Laura Boster. Bonnie is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, John Hungate; daughters, Cheri Schlagel (Rod) and Shaunda Hungate, all of Albuquerque. She moved to Clovis, NM during her childhood while her father worked for the railroad. Bonnie attended school in Clovis graduating from high school in 1941. She worked at the telephone company and attended the Assembly of God Church while living in Clovis. Bonnie met John while attending high school. They worked together during the summers at the Raton Creamery ice cream fountain on First and Main. Soon after their wedding, they moved to Albuquerque. Bonnie also resided in Littleton, CO, before making her final home in Albuquerque. She devoted her life to caring for Shaunda, her special needs daughter. Bonnie was a member of Evangel Christian Center. Visitation will be Friday, April 22, 2011 at 10:00 am, with services at 10:30 am, and burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
