HOWARD -- Merlin (Merle)L. Howard October 2, 1942- January 16, 2011 Merle Howard lost his three year battle with cancer on Sunday, he was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Vera Howard (Grants, NM); and brother Michael Howard (Santa Fe, NM) and is survived by his wife Ginnie Burchardt (Cloudcroft, NM); sister Barbara Lemon (Colorado Springs, CO); daughter Minda Federmeyer (Yuma, AZ); son Scott Howard (Los Lunas, NM); and granddaughters, Kayla and Kara. Merle lived a full life and had many adventures which led to much travel and experience in diverse professions; he was a true jack of all trades. These adventures ended in New Mexico the one state that he truly loved. He has now returned to his lord and has been welcomed into the bosom of his family. A memorial service will be held in Cloudcroft, NM on Sunday, January 29, 2011. Merle's remains have been donated to the University of New Mexico for research.
