CARTER -- Joyce A. Carter, 73, passed away October 28, 2010. She is survived by her daughter Renee O'Hea and husband Patrick, her son Steve Talmadge, grandchildren, Kelli, Kyle and Keelan O'Hea, Tyler and Austin Talmadge, her brother Daryle Carter and wife Kay, Ron Talmadge and many other family and friends. Joyce was born in Washington, Iowa to Rev. Vernon and Edna Carter. She attended Drake University where she studied organ church music and became known as a premier pipe organist and accompanist. She was an active member of AGO (American Guild of Organists). Joyce was organist at many churches in the Albuquerque area and most recently the piano at Manzano del Sol Healthcare. She could mesmerize people with her masterful precision and artistic flair. Every piece she played was played with all her heart and soul with great feeling and emotion and many were moved with even the simplest anthem. She could literally pull out all the "stops" and the entire room would be taken over by the majestic sound and people would rise to their feet whenever she would play her "postlude" and applaud with chills running down their spine & goose bumps on their arms. Joyce touched many lives and the echo of her music will live on forever. Memorial services will be Wednesday, 10:30 am, November 3, 2010 at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles, CA, or Monte Vista Christian Church Music Fund. Cremation has taken place.
