ROMERO -- Juan Cruz Romero, Jr., 80, resident of Albuquerque, born March 16, 1930 in Estancia, NM to Juan Cruz and Juanita Romero, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bertha Baca Romero; children, Cynthia Macias and husband Gilbert, Monica Gonzales, and Dominic Romero and wife, Frederica; eight grandchildren, Herman Alvarez, Brian Romero and Sonia, Victor Gonzales, Immanuel Gonzales, Derrick Macias, Stephanie Romero, Marcus Macias, and Dominic Romero II, six great-grandchildren; sister, Josefita Romero of Los Lunas; brothers, Julian Romero and wife, Massie of Albuquerque, Margarito Romero and wife, Virginia of Albuquerque, Manuel Romero and wife, Pat of Tulsa, OK, Pete Romero and wife, Romie of Albuquerque; best friend, Charles Sanchez; and extended family members and friends. Juan was preceded in death by his grandson, Mario Alvarez; brothers, Marcos and Jose Romero; sister, Carmen Sanchez; his parents, and his son-in-law, Joe Gonzales. Juan served proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. Juan retired from the United States Postal Service after over thirty years of outstanding service. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed an afternoon at the racetrack, and could frequently be found at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church. He was an honest, faithful, hard working man and will be fondly remembered by the numerous lives he touched. A rosary will be recited at French~ Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, at 5:00p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Annunciation, 2621 Vermont St. NE.
