GALLEGOS -- Abenicio "Benny" Gallegos, also known by his grandchildren as "Papa Bennie" and "Biembie," passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Abenicio was born on July 21, 1915. Bennie enjoyed dancing, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Avelina "Nina" Gallegos; grandsons, Eric Gallegos and Mark Sanchez; parents, Thomas and Melecia Gallegos; brothers, Felix Gallegos and Ralph Gallegos; and sister, Connie Becerra. He is survived by his children, Dorothy Stone and husband Bob, Herald Gallegos and wife, Linda, Annadine Gonzales and husband, Wilfred, Imelda Donigan and husband, Pat, and Benita Ambriz and husband, Gregorio; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Sophie Gurule, Rosie Chavez, Tarsila Griego, Andy Gallegos, and Tony Chavez. The Visitation and the recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 17, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 800 Broadway SE. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 18, 2010 also, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mr. Gallegos will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Armando Castelazo, Troy Rogers, H.B.
