OCHOA -- ADELINA (LENA) RAMONA OCHOA, Died peacefully surrounded by family and friends August 25, 2010 at her home in Santa Fe, NM after a prolonged illness. Adelina was born the oldest of six children on March 13 in Madrid, New Mexico to Juan and Sadie Ochoa. Adelina began her eduction at Madrid Elementary School and ultimately graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1957. Adelina retired from the State of New Mexico after 30 years of service. After retirement, up until 2009, she worked annually at the NM Legislative sessions and thoroughly loved this job. Adelina was an active auxiliary member of the VFW Post 2951 and the American Legion, Montoya y Montoya, Post 1. Her hobbies were many and she mainly enjoyed her oil painting. Many of her friends were recipients of lovely works of art and other crafts she created. She also loved cooking for family and friends. Whenever an activity arose where food was required, Lena unfailingly stepped up to the plate and provided whatever was needed. Her generosity is well known amongst all her friends and especially her family. Family was Lena's first and foremost priority; so much so, that she forwent one Legislative session, which she loved, to help care for her special needs sister. Adelina was preceded in death by her father, Juan. She is survived by her mother Sadie Ochoa; her brothers, Robert (Marina), and John; her sisters, Annabelle and Patricia from Santa Fe and Louella Hardin (Frank) from England; nieces, Leonila Ochoa, from Santa Fe, and Maria Elena Gutierrez (Bobby) from Rio Rancho, NM, nephews, Nathan Hardin (Madelena) from Taos, NM and Brian Hardin (Mariza) from Arlington, VA. She is also survived by one great-nephew, Drake; and one great-niece, Dakota Hardin; and numerous cousins. A rosary will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe On Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 6:00 p.m . Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Church with internment at Rosario Cemetery.
